Description
Black Sunday, February 15th, 1942. A squad of men, two of whom carried flags over their shoulders, marched through a suburb of Singapore Island. The furthermost flag was a Union Jack, the near one a flag of truce. Their bearers were British soldiers, in shorts, shirts, and steel helmets, and by their side strutted triumphant Japanese escorts. The General Officer Commanding the British garrison had come to sign its surrender.
